Over the past 24 hours 63 people died in Serbia of the coronavirus, while 7,840 were newly infected, an Oct. 26 statement has said.

The Ministry of Health's covid19.rs website says that 26,490 people were tested in this time while 6,789 people have been hospitalized of whom 267 are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Serbia a total of 9,634 people died of the virus while 6,205,905 samples were tested and 1,111,957 people tested positive.

Nis University Clinic deputy director Radmilo Jankovic said on Oct. 26 that the introduction of covid passes and the promotion of vaccination were too late. Jankovic told Prva TV that the epidemiological situation had escalated in September and October and that "there is no sign" that it will abate in the days to come.
