Education, Science and Technological Development Minister Branko Ruzic on Oct. 26 said that amid a rise in coronavirus cases, models of education would soon be discussed with the Crisis Headquarters members in a meeting with the School Team, adding that “a best possible decision for children will be made.”
Ruzic told state public broadcaster RTS that “it is not realistic for pre-school children and fifth and sixth graders to switch to e-learning at the moment and without an emergency situation in place as the basic question is who will take care of those children.”
Speaking about the education reform, that is, alignments with the EU standards, Ruzic said that the EU had supported “reforms at all education levels in Serbia” with more than EUR100 million. He added that the most important reforms had been implemented owing to the assistance of the EU, which, he said, was the biggest donor in the field of education.
EU Delegation to Serbia Head Emanuele Giaufret said that “education has to be adjusted to a given time and that education changes because it has to adapted to the labor market needs.”
“Education should be of high quality and relevant and therefore we need to innovate. The EU has provided recommendations to its member states, but also to Serbia as a candidate country,” Giaufret said.
