Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on Nov. 22 that there is "concern" that the epidemic situation will worsen over the next ten days, given that children have returned to the classroom following the recent school break..
In an interview for the Danas daily, Kon maintained that Covid passes have proven effective, although the situation remains at emergency level with over 3,000 newly-infected daily and hospitals still under pressure.
According to him, the upcoming holidays may contribute to this potential increase in the spread of the disease. "Organizing New Year's celebrations is a sensitive issue and all the members of the Covid Crisis Response Team should be mindful of that," he said.
Kon emphasized that the Team's epidemiologists are fully supported by the rest of the Team's medical staff regarding their bid to introduce 24-hour Covid passes at all public venues.
In their opinion, passes should be required not only at sports and cultural events, but rather "anywhere there exists a risk of contagion, so that said risk would be minimized," Kon explained.
