Twenty-Six People Die of COVID-19 in Serbia, 11,248 Newly Infected

In the last 24 hours, 26 people died of COVID-19 in Serbia, which raises the death toll of the epidemic to 13,071, it was announced on Jan. 16 in a post on the covid19.rs website.

There were 11,248 new cases out of 25,323 samples tested in the same time frame. Hospital care is being provided for 2,436 COVID patients, 99 of whom require assisted ventilation. Since the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia, 1,634,520 people have been tested, 1,436,395 of whom were found to be infected with the virus.

Zoran Bekic, coordinator of the Belgrade Fair vaccination hub, said on Jan. 16 that turning the Fair into a COVID dispensary was being considered. He said a "COVID system" would "definitely be opened" at the Fair if the number of people visiting COVID dispensaries due to symptoms continued to grow.
