Solberg: Serbia, Norway Developing a Good Partnership

On behalf of the Serbian government and greenlit by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali signed a contract with the Norwegian company Rystad Energy, the nova.rs website reported on Oct. 12, adding that the contract’s first four phases are worth USD1.55 million.

While the entire deal was labeled ‘top secret,’ Mali also notified the Ministry of Mining and Energy – which is in charge of such dealings – only after the agreement had been reached.

The contract was first publicly mentioned by President Aleksandar Vucic, who offered no details on what the deal with the Norwegian company would entail.

Citing a document it had obtained, the nova.rs website claims that the entire collaboration is divided into five so-called modules, which will analyze Serbia’s energy sector, the changes to the system that need to be implemented, price adjustments and subsidy levels as well as the role of the private sector in country’s state-owned power companies.
