A senior official of the Serbian Progressive Party, Zorana Mihajlovic, said on Oct. 24 that she would continue to fight for her ideas to improve the Serbian energy sector and for Serbia’s accession to the European Union (EU), promising to say who she planned to do it with, and how.

Mihajlovic, who was not nominated for the post of energy minister in Serbia’s new cabinet, said at a press conference that her Progressive membership was not limiting her fight for Serbia in the Union.

“There’s still time to say how and when, with or without the Progressive Party,” Mihajlovic said to reporters, adding that she “didn’t want to be a pawn,” and that it probably cost her the ministerial post, which was why she was addressing the press.

Mihajlovic said that she didn’t want any other post in the new cabinet, and that she wasn’t interested in a post in a public company either.

He outgoing minister said she wasn’t sure if Serbia was getting a pro-European cabinet, promising to fight for Serbia in the West, not the East.
