A meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and European mediators started in the morning on Nov. 21 in Brussels, where urgent meetings as part of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue are being held at the initiative of the EU regarding the crisis caused by the Pristina authorities' plans to replace Serbian with Kosovo vehicle license plates.

The EU's foreign minister, Josep Borrell, first met with Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti around 8 a.m., and then started a meeting with Vucic just after 9 a.m.

The separate meetings will be followed by a joint, so-called trilateral meeting between the EU, Serbia and Kosovo, and on the European side, besides Borrell, EU special representative for the dialogue Miroslav Lajcak will also attend the meeting.

The focus of the urgent meeting will be on finding a way out of the current crisis and avoiding any further escalation of tensions on the ground, with an emphasis on the issue of license plates and the return of Kosovo Serbs to Kosovo's institutions, the European External Action Service (EEAS) has announced.
