In the wake of the vote on Kosovo’s bid for membership in the Council of Europe, Serbia’s foreign policy will definitely undergo adjustments with regards to certain countries and anyone wanting Serbia as an ally “will have to prove it,” Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said on April 27.

“Should we continue to believe that we have a great ally in, for instance, Montenegro, which didn’t even abstain but rather voted in favor [of Kosovo’s membership]? Or Slovakia and Greece, who do not recognize Kosovo but abstained? It would be nice of them to explain if their [foreign] policy has changed,” Dacic told the Kurir daily.

The foreign minister emphasized that a country cannot vote against Serbia, then claim to be its friend.

“Nor can someone else’s territorial integrity be more important than our own. Anyone who wants Serbia as a friend and ally will have to prove it,” Dacic stated.
