The European Union’s special representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, said that the next meeting between the two parties’ chief negotiators in Brussels, on May 15, was a good opportunity to arrange concrete steps.

Lajcak, who traveled to Belgrade from Pristina on May 12, said on Twitter that he had met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, to discuss the way forward in terms of the implementation of the agreement to normalize relations between Serbia and Kosovo.

Vucic said after the meeting that Lajcak had talked with the Serbs in the north of Kosovo, and that he was assured of their resolve to confront Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s “terror.” “Lajcak is concerned. He talked with people in the north of Kosovo, people from non-governmental organizations, the Serb Ticket and other parties – all of them said the same. He saw the Serbs’ resolve to oppose Kurti’s terror,” the Serbian president said.

Petkovic said that he shared his concerns with the EU special envoy about institutional and “every other” form of violence which the regime in Pristina was visiting upon the Serbian population day-by-day.
