A new rally, where the public will peacefully protest seeking the annulment of the Dec. 17 elections due to rigging, will be held on Dec. 26 in front of the State Electoral Commission.

One of the two main candidates of the Serbia Against Violence coalition, Marinika Tepic, has been on hunger strike over the election results for eight full days and was unable to join the Dec. 25 protest due to her health.

Savo Manojlovic, the leader of Get Going for Change, has stated that his movement has been getting calls from the families of people arrested in the Dec. 24 Belgrade riots. Unable to find out how their loved ones are faring in custody, the families were told by Manojlovic to head to the Palace of Justice building as early as possible on Dec. 26 and to bring their lawyers.

“Upon arrest, [a person] can be held for 48 hours, after which a ruling about further incarceration needs to be made. Very often, people [in such situations] are assigned a public defender. Exceptions notwithstanding, such attorneys often collude with the police and do not represent their client’s best interest. The individuals in question were arrested [on Dec. 24] and must be interrogated by Dec. 26,” Manojlovic stated.

The State Electoral Commission ruled that the parliamentary elections will be repeated at 28 polling stations on Dec. 30, due to voting irregularities.
