Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic is visiting Moscow on March 21 at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, with whom he will discuss cooperation between the two countries and the situation in the Balkans and the world.

Dacic and Lavrov will talk about a wide range of issues related to Serbia-Russia political and economic cooperation, the question of Kosovo, the situation in the Balkans, and current international problems, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.

According to a statement from the Serbian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov invited Dacic to Moscow on the occasion of a friendly match between the Serbian and Russian national football teams.

Serbia is the first European state whose national football team will be playing in Russia since the start of the country's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Since then, Russia has played friendlies with about a dozen national teams, mostly from Asia and Africa.

Russia has this week asked that the U.N. Security Council hold a session on March 25 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It is still unknown whether the session will take place.
