Opposition Party: Government Paid Tabloids EUR1.3 Million During 2023

MP and Freedom and Justice Party presidency member Branko Miljus said on Apr. 4 that the Serbian authorities gave Informer, Srpski Telegraf, Alo, Vecernje Novosti, Kurir and Politika EUR1.3 million in state funds in 2023 and that this was the best example of abuse of the media.

Miljus said that these media outlets published 1,154 manipulative pieces on their front pages and that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was cast in an exclusively positive light on the front pages of these dailies.

He said that the choice of subjects, use of the same theses and qualifications, and often the same words unambiguously showed that these outlets were being managed from the same center.
