Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met in Belgrade on May 15 with the U.S. undersecretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs, Elizabeth Allen, and discussed the advancement of cooperation, regional and geopolitical issues, Serbia’s European path and the problems of the Serbs in Kosovo.
“I have pointed out the pressure the Serbs and Serbia are faced with and asked the U.S. to step up its engagement and use its influence to preserve stability in the region and create preconditions for true cooperation and tangible progress of the region and all our citizens towards a better and more prosperous future,” Vucic wrote in a post on Instagram, with a photo from the meeting with the U.S. official.
Vucic said the conversation was “good and useful,” adding that possibilities were considered for the broadening of cooperation between Serbia and the U.S. in the fields of culture and education, especially in various types of programs for grants and the exchange of students, culture and knowledge.
He stated that they also touched on the U.S. support to Serbia’s progress towards full membership in the EU. Undersecretary Elizabeth Allen visited Serbia within a tour of the region.
