The political atmosphere in Serbia is becoming increasingly aggressive and there is concern in Berlin over insults aimed at Germany, chief of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee Michael Roth has said.
Roth, who met with President Aleksandar Vucic during a visit to Belgrade, told N1 that he was a friend of the Serbian people and that if he was criticizing the authorities and leadership of the state, he was not criticizing Serbian society.
He also said that the EU had made many mistakes regarding the Western Balkans, had not kept its promise, and that was why many people in Serbia were rightfully angry.
Roth went on to say that his colleagues in the German parliament shared the concern about the situation in Serbia, adding that he was saddened by the fact that he had received numerous aggressive messages from Serbs.
