The leader of the Movement for Change, Savo Manojlovic, announced on June 6 that the movement had decided to leave the Belgrade City Assembly and the municipal assembly of New Belgrade.

“Due to the electoral machinations that happened, we refuse to participate in this way in the utter violation of the Constitution and democracy that is going on. There were irregularities in these elections. Duplicate (voter) rosters… but now we have seen tailoring of voter rosters in Nis. That is a direct introduction to a dictatorship,” Manojlovic said, adding that it was unbelievable that the results were “rigged in favor of the ruling coalition” in every ballot station.

“Nominally, we will accept our seats, but then we will walk out. We will not accept the remunerations for councilpersons from the budget, but we will accept nominally, so as not to prolong the process by resigning and not let our seats go to the ruling coalition,” Manojlovic said.

As for Nis, the Movement for Change will not walk out of the city assembly because that would harm the citizens, and the decisions on the direction of struggle in that city will be made by the local chapters, Manojlovic stated, adding that 30 objections had been submitted and that the struggle continued.
