Marko Cadez, the chair of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, said on July 8 that representatives of Serbia and Egypt will be signing a free trade agreement in Cairo in the next few days and added that this will present Serbian businesses with new opportunities in the African continent.
Speaking for Pink TV, Cadez further stated that, as a result of good relations between the two countries’ economies and top officials, two events will be organized in the immediate future.
The first is a Women’s Business Forum, which will take place in Cairo in the next week or so and include female entrepreneurs from Serbia. This will be followed by a larger Serbia-Egypt business forum, in which some 60 Serbian companies will participate.
According to Cadez, fruit manufacturers from Serbia are bound to be attracted to the Egyptian market, while the free trade agreement will also enable domestic importers to secure certain raw materials at lower costs.
The Chamber of Commerce head also announced that the Serbian company Sigma will be opening a joint factory in Egypt with a local brand, producing disinfectants for the entire African market.
Several other local companies are also forging ties with Egypt, he said, including NeoMedica, which will begin producing reagents with an Egyptian partner, the Elixir Group, which is working on a large investment in phosphates, and Agromehanika, which is already collaborating with the companies in Egypt.
