French Ambassador to Serbia Pierre Cochard said on July 12 that Serbia could count on stronger bilateral ties and support from Paris in the EU accession process.
Speaking to reporters before a reception to mark Bastille Day, Ambassador Cochard said that bilateral relations between Serbia and France were at the highest level, and that they were getting stronger though strong structural and innovative projects.
"Serbia can also count on our continued engagement in strengthening bilateral relations. Large companies are resolutely creating long-term partnerships. The French Development Agency will allocate more than EUR600 million to Serbia this year, in order to support the green agenda and convergence with EU standards. The Agency plans on total investment in Serbia reaching one billion euros by 2026," Cochard said.
The French diplomat added in his speech that French President Emmanuel Macron was not going to pay the "great visit" to Belgrade that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had announced, explaining that during a meeting with Vucic in Paris last April the French president said he intended to visit Serbia soon, but that "the date has yet to be set."
