Head of the Emergency Situations Sector Luka Causic said on Aug. 1 that since the beginning of July 2,005 wildfires had been registered in Serbia which were extinguished "owing to the incredible engagement of firefighter-rescuers."
Causic told RTS that since the beginning of the year 10,621 wildfires had been put out in Serbia, as well as that members of the Emergency Situations Sector were currently trying to extinguish three wildfires.
He added that 90% of a wildfire which had crossed into North Macedonia from Mt. Kozjak had been localized and that "another arm" of a wildfire in North Macedonia was expected to spread to Serbia.
