Serbian Official Expects Gas Arrangement with Russia to Continue

The minister without portfolio in charge of international economic cooperation, Nenad Popovic, said on Dec. 6 that he expected a new agreement between the presidents of Serbia and Russia next spring, on an even more affordable price of Russian gas for Serbia for a period of three to seven years.

"I expect that next spring Russian President Vladimir Putin and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will agree on an even better price of gas for the citizens of Serbia for the next three, five or seven years," Popovic told the Politika newspaper.

Popovic, who is the co-chairman of the Serbia-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, recalled that Serbia was paying the lowest price of Russian natural gas in Europe, as a result of an agreement between Vucic and Putin.

"It has been that way for the past 10 years, I am sure it will be the same next year, maybe even better," he said.
