Serbia’s striking university students said on Jan. 14 that seven students who had been blocking the Belgrade Faculty of Law the night before, were injured in incidents provoked by unknown persons.
The attackers, according to a post on Instagram, threw glass and plastic bottles at the students.
“One female student was pushed down the stairs, landing on her head. Then she, together with another five Faculty of Law students, was taken to the Emergency Center for medical treatment,” students said in the post.
After the incident, according to the post, unknown persons drove by cars to the scene and took away the evidence outside the faculty building.
Also, a video has been posted showing police officers taking in a male, who, as students claim, attacked them. “According to information from witnesses we have at the moment, only one of reportedly six persons involved in the attack on the students, has been arrested,” it is said in a post on X account Students on Strike.
Student Veljko Cirovic has told TV N1 that the incident occurred around 2 am, with no one suffering heavy bodily injuries, while according to his fellow student, Luka Davidovic, unknown persons on three occasions approached the Faculty of Law attacking the students.
“Unknown persons first came in saying they were supporters of (Serbian President Aleksandar) Vucic (...) They wanted to urinate around the faculty building, with our guys insisting they should not do that. They threw them out of the building. In the second incident, several people were injured, and then we managed to lock ourselves inside the faculty building. The third time they approached, they were throwing swears and insults at us,” Davidovic said.
