Representatives of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, the Russian Party, the Justice and Reconciliation Party, the Democratic Alliance of the Croats in Vojvodina and the We – Voice of the People, participated in consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic about the appointment of the new designate prime minister, with some of them speaking more in favor of the appointment of the new government, than of early parliamentary elections.

The majority of opposition parties announced earlier that they would not participate in the president’s consultations about the new government. The legal deadline for forming the new government is April 18 and, if it were not to be formed, early parliamentary elections are to be scheduled.

The president of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, Balint Pastor, stated that he told the Serbian president that, as before, the party was not interested in ministerial functions, but wanted the country “to come out, as soon as possible, of the situation that is edging ever closer to anarchy.”

A representative of the We – Voice of the People caucus, Jovan Janjic, stated after the consultations that the purpose of their attending was to incite dialogue and that they viewed it as a constitutional and legal obligation, but that they did not wish to participate in the new government. A representative of the electoral ticket “Justice and Reconciliation Party – Democratic Alliance of the Croats of Vojvodina,” Usame Zukorlic, said that the ticket realized during the consultations that the forming of the new government was more probable (than early elections) and that the decision was up to the strongest party in the country – the Serbian Progressive Party.
