Serbian Parliament speaker Ana Brnabic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN OBRADOVIC)
It is possible that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic will accede to the protesting university students’ demands and call snap parliamentary elections, but they must approach him directly with this demand, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on May 8.
Speaking for Pink TV, Brnabic stated Vucic might be willing to “grant” the students’ request, but that it was wrong of them to claim it was beyond his purview to decide on their initial demands.
“[The students’] have shown a complete absence of political smarts, having mocked the only person with the power to fulfill their ultimate demand, which are elections,” Brnabic concluded.
