Serbia’s protesting university students who have been running an ultramarathon from Novi Sad to Brussels since April 25 commenced the final leg of their journey in Liege early on May 12.
They are set to cover 97 km and arrive at their destination around 6 p.m.
Under the slogan “From my village to Brussels city,” the students aim to inform EU institutions of the situation in Serbia and the demands behind the six-month-long university blockades and protests sparked by the Nov. 1, 2024 Novi Sad railway station collapse.
The European Parliament already has a sitting scheduled for the day, with the Serbian situation on the agenda.
The relay ultramarathon the students have been running for 17 days now consists of groups of students taking turns running and resting.
