Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic decorated the co-chairwoman of the Serbian caucus in the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress, Claudia Tenney, with the Order of the Serbian Flag of the First Class, on May 28, for special merit in the development and strengthening of cooperation and international relations of Serbia and the United States.
During the presentation ceremony in Belgrade, Vucic thanked the Republican congresswoman for the “extraordinary contribution to the advancement of Serbia-U.S. relations and the strong efforts within the U.S. Congress and in the capacity of the co-chairwoman of the Serbian caucus.” The Serbian president went on to say that development of good relations with the U.S. and full EU membership were the country’s foreign policy priorities.
He underscored the “important and continuous” U.S. support to the preservation of stability, peace and security in the Western Balkan region, and the contribution to the process of normalization of Belgrade-Pristina relations, through dialogue and regardless of all the differences between the two sides on that issue.
Tenney thanked for the honor, saying that she had been bonded with all the people in the former Yugoslavia since her college days. “I could even get an award from the Commerce Chamber for all the people and family members I have brought here and the friends from college who keep coming. Thank you for everything you did for me. I came here with love and gratitude and I feel great love for the Serbian people,” Tenney stated and conveyed the regards from U.S. President Donald Trump.
