Local Elections Take Place in Ten Areas in Serbia on March 29

Local elections took place in ten areas in Serbia on March 29, where citizens voted for the local assemblies of the city of Bor, the municipalities of Smederevska Palanka, Bajina Basta, Kula, Lucani, Arandjelovac, Kladovo, Knjazevac and Majdanpek, and the Sevojno Uzice city district.

Seven tickets ran for 35 seats in elections for the Bor assembly, while six ran in elections for the 49-seat municipal assembly of Smederevska Palanka. In Bajina Basta, where the local assembly has 45 councillors, there were six tickets in the running. The residents of Lucani could also pick among six tickets for the town's 35-seat assembly.

Five tickets ran in elections for Arandjelovac's 41-seat assembly, while five tickets ran in elections in Kula for the town's 37-seat assembly. Four tickets competed for 40 seats in the Knjazevac assembly, while in Majdanpek the candidates of four tickets vied for 31 seats.

In Kladovo, three tickets ran for the 28-seat assembly, while in Uzice's Sevojno municipality four tickets ran for 19 seats in the local assembly. The combined number of votes in all areas is roughly 248,000. Domestic and foreign observers followed the elections.
