On June 2, Besnik Bislimi, deputy premier in the caretaker government of Kosovo, met with Peter Sorensen, European Union special representative to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, in Brussels, an EU spokesperson confirmed.

The EU spokesperson said that Sorensen was due to meet with Serbian Office for Kosovo and Metohija director Petar Petkovic on June 3, Koha reported, adding that a trilateral meeting between Sorensen and delegations from Belgrade and Pristina was possible.

This is the first time that Bislimi and Petkovic, the main negotiators for Pristina and Belgrade, have received invitations to Brussels since Sorensen succeeded Miroslav Lajcak as special envoy to the EU-mediated dialogue on Feb. 1. Diplomatic sources in Brussels report that they do not expect breakthroughs from this week's meetings considering the current political situation in Kosovo.

Bislimi said that he and Sorensen had discussed next steps in the dialogue, integrated administrative line management, where he said Serbia was late in meeting its obligations, issues with recognition of Kosovo certificates, the freezing of funds in bank accounts of the National Council of Albanians, and what he described as a campaign of misinformation and pressure on Serbs in Kosovo by Serbia.
