In the local elections held in Kosjeric on June 8, the Serbian Progressive Party ticket won 49.23 percent of votes, while the united opposition won 48.54 percent or 51 votes less, the Republic Electoral Commission announced on June 9, after the processing of 100 percent of polling stations.
The turnout in those elections was 84.17 percent of registered voters.
The program director of the election observation NGO CRTA, Rasa Nedeljkov, said that based on preliminary results, in Zajecar the Serbian Progressive Party had won 14,199 votes, the Change We Believe In ticket 10,312 votes, while the United for the Salvation of Zajecar had won 2,184 votes.
The ruling Socialist Party of Serbia and the tickets Responsible Governance for Zajecar, We the Power of the People - City of Zajecar, the Serbian Liberals, and the Coalition for Eastern Serbia failed to cross the election threshold.
Nedeljkov said that due to electoral irregularities the results did not reflect the will of the citizens.
