Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian Progressive Party can no longer be in power because the results of the local elections in Kosjeric and Zajecar, despite having taken place in absolutely irregular conditions, have shown that the people want change, opposition Freedom and Justice Party leader Dragan Djilas said on June 9.

"It is clear that, if the electoral conditions were fair and if ODIHR's recommendations had been implemented, the Serbian Progressive Party would have experienced a complete debacle," Djilas said in a written statement.

He recalled that "just 15 months ago the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia scored landslide victories in those municipalities" and added that, at the time, "they won 56 percent in Zajecar and 68 percent of votes in Kosjeric."

"It is clear that the Serbian Progressive Party is seeing that same decline in every city, in every municipality in Serbia. And it is clear that a joint ticket of all opponents of the authorities is the recipe for victory," said Djilas.
