The morning of July 2 has seen university students and members of the general public staging sporadic roadblocks throughout Belgrade, with – according to the dispatch center of the capital’s transit company GSP Belgrade – over 30 public transit lines brought to a standstill.
In New Belgrade, main thoroughfares Jurija Gagarina St. and Gandijeva St. have been blocked, along with Aleksandra Dubceka St. and 22. Oktobra St. in neighboring Zemun.
Downtown, traffic has been stopped at the intersection of 27. Marta St. and Starine Novaka St.
July 2 is the fourth consecutive day of static and mobile roadblocks being staged by the public at main intersections throughout the country.
This civil disobedience began late on June 29, a day after police clashed with protestors at a massive anti-regime rally in Belgrade and several people were arrested for allegedly plotting treason.
