Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on July 14 with Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, describing the farewell visit as an excellent opportunity to review the results of their cooperation, which during Giaufret’s term “further strengthened the relationship between Serbia and the EU.”
“We specifically discussed the implementation of projects outlined in the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as well as joint energy and infrastructure projects in which the EU has been a reliable and valuable partner to Serbia,” Vucic wrote on Instagram. The president also said that they had also talked about their work on reforms and initiatives that “brought significant benefits to Serbian citizens, particularly in the fields of energy, environmental protection, and infrastructural integration with the EU.”
Vucic reiterated that Serbia “greatly values its cooperation with the EU,” Serbia’s largest foreign trade partner and “one of the biggest investors.” “I am especially grateful to Ambassador Giaufret for his personal commitment to enhancing cooperation with Serbia and for his display of friendship with our country,” Vucic added.
Giaufret also met with Serbia’s Prime Minister Djuro Macut, who said that since the beginning of his term the ambassador personally witnessed Serbia’s commitment to European values. Macut expressed his gratitude for Giaufret’s personal engagement and contribution to strengthening cooperation between the Union and Serbia, the Government of Serbia quoted Macut as saying in a release.
