Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia Volodymyr Tolkach stated on Aug. 14 that he was optimistic regarding the Aug. 15 meeting of the presidents of the U.S. and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, about the war in Ukraine.

“For me, all talks are good because we need to bring peace to my country, without losing many lives on that path,” Tolkach told BETA, adding that he viewed the Aug. 15 meeting as the initial step.

“We have a strong request, however – the territorial integrity of Ukraine, just like (it is the case) here in Serbia. And we need to be safe from future aggression. In this case, NATO is the best; I do not know how that will be discussed tomorrow (Aug. 15), but there is no other path for defending our territory,” stated the ambassador.
