Protest rallies were held in the evening on Aug. 21 in several Serbian cities, from Belgrade and Cacak, to Krusevac, Sombor and Pozarevac.
In Krusevac's Youth Square, a rally was held in solidarity with Belgrade Faculty of Political Sciences student Nikolina Sindjelic, after claims that while being taken in by police in Belgrade she was physically assaulted and threatened with rape by the commander of the Unit for the Protection of Specific Persons and Facilities, Marko Kricak.
The protesters sent the authorities messages against violence and then went on a protest march that ended outside the city administration building, where they paid a silent tribute to the victims of the November 2024 tragedy at the Novi Sad railway station.
In Cacak, citizens gathered in front of the Serbian Progressive Party office on the promenade in support of fitness coach Marko Djusic. Djusic earlier announced on social media that, after eight years of successful work, he was forced to leave his coaching job after having turned down an invitation from one of the leaders of the Progressive party's Cacak chapter to be outside the party office during a clash between Progressive party supporters and anti-government demonstrators.
Protesters organized "cleanings" in Sombor and Pozarevac, after anti-blockade protests initiated and attended by government supporters took place in those towns. The rally in Pozarevac, titled "Field Rehabilitation," was held outside the Serbian Progressive Party office, which was empty, while the gathering "Today We're Cleaning Sombor" took place outside County Hall.
In Belgrade, at the invitation of the Konjarnik Citizen Assembly, a rally in support of N1 TV was held outside its offices in New Belgrade, over pressures and changes in the top positions at the companies operating within United Group, including United Media, of which N1 is a part.
