Farmers Continue Protest, November 17 2023 (BETAPHOTO/DRAGAN GOJIC)
Farmers from multiple associations continued their two-day protest in the morning on Oct. 14 by parking their tractors outside the building housing judicial institutions in Novi Sad.
At the same time, in several dozen places farmers took to the streets on their tractors and parked them on the sides of roads, in front of municipal and judicial buildings and at other locations, but - as announced - traffic is not being blocked.
They say they will radicalize the protest if their demands are not met.
Goran Filipovic of the Initiative for the Survival of Serbian Farmers told reporters that they had come to the judicial building because of the arrest of fellow farmers after the Sept. 15 protest in front of the provincial government building, against whom criminal charges have been pressed.
Protests are simultaneously taking place in Opovo, Dolovo, Stara Pazova, Vrsac, Zrenjanin, Srbobran, Kovacica, Banatsko Karadjordjevo and other places, and the protesting farmers are asking that their demands be met, including the payment of all outstanding debts to farmers.
They also want one-off support in the amount of EUR300 per hectare for all plants and fruit to help counter the consequences of this year's drought and frost, elimination of monopolies and cartel influence from the market, and excise-free fuel at gas stations as of Jan. 1, 2026.
