Belgrade and Moscow Sign Ten-Year Cooperation Agreement

A ten-year cooperation agreement between the capitals of Serbia and Russia was signed on Oct. 20 by the president of the Belgrade City Assembly, Nikola Nikodijevic, and a minister of the Moscow Government Minister who also chairs the department for external economic and international relations, Sergei Cheryomin, as part of the event Days of Moscow in Belgrade.

“We have largely used the previous ten-year agreement with the City of Moscow to improve our relations and enhance the work of Belgrade’s city administration. I believe we opened doors for many of our businesses operating in Russia in recent years, especially in Moscow,” Nikodijevic said at a press conference at Belgrade’s Old Palace.

The city parliament’s official added that the purpose of the new agreement was to enable further exchange of experiences, and joint cooperation in the fields of transport, culture, education, and sports.

Cheryomin recalled that the Days of Moscow was the event first held in 2016, followed by Days of Belgrade in Moscow the following year.

“The political situation over the past few years has made it impossible for us to continue in the same spirit, but thanks to the efforts of the City of Belgrade and the favorable climate this year, we are restoring this tradition,” Cheryomin said.
