Gojko Bozovic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN ILIC)
Writer and one of the founders of the ProGlas initiative Gojko Bozovic said on Nov. 13 that a referendum atmosphere in possible elections would lead to a change of government in Serbia which was why opposition actors needed to put their ideological differences aside.
In an interview with the Vreme weekly, he said that a change of government in Serbia was a prerequisite for creating a more just society and that there was no political life in the country at the moment. "We need to renew political life, to renew elementary democracy and critical thinking platforms. If we insist on ideological exclusivities, we will not win this change," Bozovic said.
He also said that Serbia was at a critical moment because social change had been achieved, while the government was trying to restore the order of fear through mass repression. Bozovic added that he believed that the people leading the country had introduced police into the political process because they can no longer "rule through spins and economic extortion."
"The regime is trying to resist with sheer violence, but that cannot last for long because it raises the price of power and breaks the morale of members of the police establishment and entire repressive apparatus," Bozovic said.
