On Dec. 10, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic will be visiting Brussels, where he will attend a working dinner hosted by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa.
Announcing the visit, Vucic said that he will take the opportunity to propose to Von der Leyen that all EU candidates from the Western Balkans be admitted to the Union at the same time as full members.
“If you admit one, or two, or three of us, what happens to the rest? How will we deal with that? How will we resolve all open issues?” Vucic stated.
In his opinion, the future of the region and of Europe itself is at stake in this matter.
“If someone wants to understand geopolitics, this is one thing the EU can do: accept us all together, with no borders between us. The Serbs will feel better, the Bosniaks will feel better, the Albanians will feel better, the Croats will be ok, I hope. And I foresee only good things as the overarching outcome of this idea. It’s my idea and I will tell both Antonia Costa and Ursula von der Leyen this tomorrow,” Vucic said on Dec. 9.
