Freedom and Justice Party leader Dragan Djilas on Dec. 30 said that snap parliamentary elections would be held next year, noting that not even Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic knew the exact date, because the regime had lost majority support among citizens.
“We will have elections next year, but when, it depends on Aleksandar Vucic, as well as various other developments. Today, no one can tell the exact month or date for the vote. Not even Vucic himself knows when the elections will be held,” Djilas told Belgrade weekly NIN.
Last week, Vucic said that Serbia was stepping into “the election year,” but did not specify whether snap elections would be held in the spring or towards the end of 2026.
“It is clear that the regime no longer has majority support in Serbia, it is evident,” Djilas said, adding that it had been revealed in local elections.
Djilas also said that he did not know how the opposition parties would run in the elections or in how many blocs, noting that his party had not discussed it yet.
