On Sunday, Dec. 28, the state public broadcaster RTS dedicated 23 minutes to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, while the student initiative to collect signatures in support of early elections dubbed “Declare Victory” was given only one minute of air time.

“A video analysis of the RTS’ program on Dec. 28 shows that the Serbian president was featured up to 23.5 minutes, while the student initiative for early elections was given coverage of up to one minute,” BIRODI said. Vucic, according to the non-governmental organization, was given the opportunity to present his views on RTS, which also had a journalist reporting from outside the Serbian Parliament building, where Vucic addressed the crowd while pro-regime tents were replaced by a New Year’s market.

“In its second and third edition of primetime news, RTS indirectly covered the student initiative, not including statements by the organizers or citizens signing the petition, and also failing to give information about the locations where citizens can sing the petition, while also misinforming the public that the initiative serves to measure support to potential student ticket in the next elections,” according to BIRODI.
