Officials of the Get Going for Change movement said on Jan. 23 that the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) broadcast "a warped reality," and sent a memo to the incumbent director asking what the plan was regarding the representation of "two sides" in the program, i.e. the inclusion of opinions contrary to those of government officials.
At a news conference outside the RTS headquarters in downtown Belgrade, with a number of banners criticizing the public service's work and pointing out its propaganda in the interest of the authorities, the movement representatives also underscored that all Serbian citizens paid a subscription to RTS.
Leader of the opposition movement Savo Manojlovic said it was normal for RTS journalists to follow senior government officials, but not to be their propaganda service, and pointed to the "monologues" of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during appearances on the public service.
Manojlovic believes that the way the president of the Republic appears on RTS does not exist even in North Korea and especially not in Europe, and that it seems to him that RTS is managed by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.
