People's Movement of Serbia MP Uros Djokic has said that the local and national fight should not be separated, as the fight for a normal Serbia must begin on one's own doorstep and backyard and then spill over to the entire country, the party said in a press release on Feb. 11.
In an appearance on KTV, Djokic recalled that the Serbian Progressive Party had run in the 2022 local election in a coalition with seven other parties, and said that the regime was continually consolidating and widening its front, without division along ideological lines or differences, in order to preserve power, while the opposition was always being accused of not being able to agree, of being evil and having conflicting interests.
"We don't have the luxury of division. We have to find a way to work together and take down the octopus in power which keeps advancing a narrative geared against seeing various parts of society that engaged in protests, whether students, lawyers, teachers or farmers, unite and focus politically, otherwise it would lose all basis for survival," Djokic added.
He went on to say that Finance Minister Sinisa Mali had proposed to award an unallocated RSD18 billion from this year's budget for road works, adding that, since the year will see local elections in ten local governments, it was not difficult to guess whose companies would be awarded the road work projects.
