New Democratic Party of Serbia vice president Predrag Marsenic said on Feb. 25 that the country's agriculture could not be protected by joining the European Union, and that it was possible that Serbia may join the 27-nation block "without a right to veto decisions."
He told Blic TV that this would make Serbia a third-class state, and that the condition for joining the EU was giving up a part of the country's territory.
"National interests cannot be defended within an organization if they are not first defended independently. The government does not recognize the historical moment and the big changes just like it did not sense them in the 1990s. An insincere foreign policy is being pursued that involves Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic telling German media outlets that he exported guns and ammunition to Ukraine, then telling Russian media that he didn't," Marsenic said.
