In the morning on April 13, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Peter Magyar, leader of the center-right opposition Tisza party, on his victory in parliamentary elections in Hungary held on April 12.

“I congratulate Peter Magyar on his election win. I believe we can continue good cooperation between Hungary and Serbia and I am grateful to Viktor Obran (outgoing Prime Minister and Fidesz party leader) for making such relations possible,” Vucic has written on social media X.

The day ahead of the Election Day, Vucic extended support to Orban, saying he was “endlessly grateful to him for the friendship between Serbs and Hungarians.” “Without him, this friendship would not have been possible. And regardless of the election outcome, I thank Viktor for everything and I support him in the elections. P.S. We, the Serbs, are different, because even if you lose, we will be grateful forever,” Vucic wrote on his Instagram on April 11.

According to preliminary results of the parliamentary elections held in Hungary on April 12, Peter Magyar’s opposition Tisza party secured two-thirds of seats in the parliament. Orban conceded defeat in the elections in the evening on April 12.
