Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Russian Ambassador in Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko on May 6, presenting the ambassador with a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin with congratulations on Victory Day in the Second World War.

Vucic wrote in a post on his Instagram profile that he and Botsan-Kharchenko discussed bilateral relations, with special emphasis on cooperation in the field of energy, and that they exchanged opinions about the current regional and international topics. “In conditions of complex geopolitical circumstances and challenges on the European and global markets, a stable supply of energy, primarily gas, is crucial for Serbia,” Vucic wrote, adding that Serbia would “continue to maintain a responsible energy policy in the interest of its citizens and commerce.”

Vucic handed to the ambassador a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin with congratulations on Victory Day, “one of the brightest days in the history of mankind, with a message that May 9 remains an eternal symbol of defiance and heroism of our peoples.” “I pointed out that our obligation was to preserve the memory of all the victims, who lost their lives on the side of law and justice, and that Serbia would not allow attempts at revising history. I emphasized that we shall always remember the immense and decisive role of the Red Army in the liberation of our country and Europe,” Vucic wrote in the post.
