Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat, Montenegro.
"I spoke about the activities Serbia is carrying out for the purpose of meeting the obligations in the accession process, including reforms in the rule of law, electoral legislation and the implementation of recommendations by relevant European institutions. I stressed that Serbia will fulfill all the recommendations of the Venice Commission, in line with European standards," Vucic wrote on his Instagram page on June 5.
He added that the topics of those meetings included the state of affairs in the region and Europe.
"I emphasized the importance of peace, stability and cooperation for any further progress, as well as the importance of maintaining a credible enlargement policy and a clear European perspective for the Western Balkan countries. I voiced the expectation that the European Union will present and advance a new enlargement methodology that additionally empowers the candidates' European integration process," said Vucic.
