Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on June 5 in Tivat that his joint meeting with the European Union’s leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron had been “very good and productive,” adding that he believed Serbia would soon see progress on its European path.

“We had a very productive, good, I would say even excellent conversation ... and I believe we will see Serbia make progress on its European path in the coming period, but we have a lot of work to do,” Vucic said to Serbian reporters ahead of the European Union-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat.

Vucic said he had held several bilateral meetings, and had met with all the region’s leaders, including the prime ministers of Albania and Croatia, Edi Rama and Andrej Plenkovic. Speaking about relations with Croatia, Vucic said they were not excellent, but added that there was always room for improvement.

In response to reporters’ questions, Vucic expressed confidence that relations with Montenegro would “always remain fraternal and friendly,” adding that “the fraternal people of Montenegro are always welcome in Serbia.”
