According to the preliminary results of Kosovo’s June 7 parliamentary elections, the most votes – 42.91 percent – were won by incumbent prime minister Albin Kurti’s Self-Determination Movement, Kosovo’s Central Electoral Commission has announced.
Based on 100 percent of ballots counted, the Democratic Party of Kosovo garnered 21.12 percent of votes, while the Democratic League of Kosovo placed third, supported by 17.58 percent of voters.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo followed with 7.16 percent of ballots and the Serb List secured 6.18 percent i.e. all 10 seats (of the total 120) reserved for Serb MPs in the Kosovo Assembly.
Kosovo has 1,959,962 domestically registered voters and 132,212 voters registered abroad. Turnout was 37.05 percent.
So far, the 100 percent ballot count refers to domestic votes. The count will need to be amended after votes cast by the diaspora, voters with special needs and conditional votes are added to the tally. After that, a count of ballots won by each MP candidate will be conducted.
The latest elections comprised 21 political entities with a sum of 902 candidates for members of parliament, including three coalitions, 17 political parties and one independent candidate.
