Serbian Minister for Agriculture Dragan Glamocic had talks on June 18 with a Japanese delegation about preparations for Serbia’s participation in the international horticulture exhibition, the Green EXPO 2027 in Yokohama.
According to the announcement of the Ministry, members of the Japanese delegation were Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Naohiro Tsutsumi and the commissioner of GREEN EXPO 2027, Jun Shimmi. The Ministry explained that Serbia will exhibit under the motto “PLAY UP – Cultivating in Harmony for Prosperity” which “connects tradition, modern technologies, sustainable development and a creative approach to the future of food production.”
Glamocic has announced that, at the exhibition, Serbia plans to present its potentials in agriculture, food industry, innovation and rural development. Considering that 2027 marks 145 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Japan, Glamocic said that Serbia’s participation in the GREEN EXPO 2027, simultaneously with Japan’s participation in the EXPO 2027 in Belgrade would “contribute to the strengthening of ties, exchange of knowledge, promotion of innovation and opening of new possibilities for economic cooperation,” the statement reads.
“Advancing relations with Japan represents a significant opportunity for Serbia’s agriculture,” the minister said during the meeting where, as fields of particular interest, the participants noted fruit farming, food processing, exchange of knowledge in sustainable farming, applying new technologies, digitalization of production and adjustment of agriculture to climate challenges.
