Marinika Tepic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN OBRADOVIC)
Marinika Tepic, the vice-president of the oppositional Freedom and Justice Party, said on June 21 that the regime is using the March 15, 2025 sonic weapon scandal as a “smoke screen” for other essential matters, pointing out that, in a recent speech, President Aleksandar Vucic openly revealed his plan to “resolve the issue” of public universities – i.e. the source of the countrywide university student opposition – before his term is over.
In a guest appearance on Nova TV’s Utisak Nedelje (Impression of the Week) talk show, Tepic stressed that all opposition forces are necessary to topple the regime, including the student movement and political parties.
“We don’t have the luxury of letting go of a single vote. The spectrum of pro-European parties is coordinating because we believe that no one can go at it alone, just as the university students cannot act alone, as proved by the [recent] local elections [in 10 municipalities]. I believe no one should bow out. Just as the university students have done a lot, so have we, for years. We’ve cut the bowels of this regime wide open and cannot retreat,” Tepic stated.
The politician stressed that there are many Serbian citizens who support solely the pro-European opposition and who, should said bloc fail to run, would “certainly” opt out of voting in the coming parliamentary elections.
