Belgrade Assembly President Nikola Nikodijevic took three items off the agenda of the July 24 sitting, including the draft project of a public-private partnership for establishing an integrated security system in Belgrade as a project of public interest. The project was previously severely criticized by the opposition.
Addressing councillors, Nikodijevic said the item had been removed from the agenda because an opinion had not been obtained from the competent commission.
The opposition earlier fiercely criticized the draft project, saying that the 10-year public-private partnership would likely cost RSD81 billion, or EUR692 million.
Ahead of the sitting, the opposition councillors called for the stopping of the project and announced they would file complaints against the authorities over it.
They also said launching the project, where the private partner would select, hire and organize some 2,200 people who would also be performing "constable patrols" in schools, kindergartens and other public facilities, would lead to the creation of a "paramilitary."
