In collaboration with the Serbia Center (SRCE) party and the Vojvodina chapter of the Movement of Free Citizens, the Solidarity citizens’ movement has been hosting the Erasmus+ project titled Youth in Unpeaceful Europe since Aug. 23.
Taking place in Belgrade and Novi Sad until Aug. 28, the convention has gathered youths from Slovenia, Greece, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, Spain and Serbia to discuss civil activism, building peace and youth participation in democracy.
The topics have included the university as a hub of political, economic and social developments, Serbia’s “long and winding road” toward EU accession, the 2024 collapse of the concrete canopy at Novi Sad’s Central railway station and the ensuing two years of university student and general public protests over the accident’s death toll.+
“The Solidarity citizens’ movement is grateful to be able to host youths from the European Union and hear their opinions. We are especially thankful for the support EU youths give political parties and movements which unwaveringly advocate Serbia joining the European Union,” Solidarity stated in its press release.
